Kawasaki Gas Turbine Technology to achieve Low Carbon Targets

Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd has delivered three gas turbine packages to Gas Malaysia’s ESCO companies, which focus highly on Energy Efficiency and Low Carbon emission. The most recent one is in Penang with the installation of one (1) unit of Kawasaki GPB80D Gas Turbine Generator that produces 6.5MW of electricity and 35 tonnes per hour of steam with supplementary firing. The combined Power & Heat or Co-generation solution enables annual carbon dioxide emissions to be reduced by over 18,000 tonnes. In addition, Kawasaki GPB80D is designed to be able to burn up to 30% Hydrogen with minimal modification to the original package. This feature enables further reduction of carbon dioxides emission in the near future.

Installation of other Kawasaki gas turbine for Gas Malaysia’s ESCO companies are in Selangor and Penang, with one (1) unit of GPB30D (ISO 2.93MW) and two (2) units of GPB180D (ISO 18.42MW) respectively. Kawasaki is privileged and honoured to be selected as Technology Partner to Gas Malaysia since year 2014 in the Co-generation industry.

Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (KGA) is a fully owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd, with its headquarters located in Malaysia. KGA focuses on the gas turbine sector in West Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Asia Pacific for sales and after-sales support. Kawasaki’s successful gas turbine installation of these cogeneration projects has set the stage for the deployment of this proven technology in Malaysia and Kawasaki is going to keep pushing the boundaries of perfection.
